Build students’ resiliency skills outside of class time
After school and community programs share schools’ missions to help students do well in school, learn appropriate social behaviors, avoid risky activities and behaviors, and prepare for successful futures. After school and community programs often have more flexibility and time to focus on soft skills, such as resiliency, than schools.
The Success Highways Resiliency Solution is a perfect fit with many after school and community programs. The Success Highways Resiliency Curriculum has a heavy emphasis on learning by doing and through teamwork and non-instructional methods. The 15, 45-minute lessons provide students with the opportunity to reflect on and analyze their own resiliency data, generated by the Success Highways Resiliency Assessment. This is a critical process towards social and emotional growth.
The Success Highways Resiliency Solution can be used by after school and community programs to help youth:
- Build meaningful relationships with supportive adults
- Be part of a group of peers with positive behaviors and goals
- Understand the importance of education and their responsibilities as a learner
- Plan, make decisions, and set goals for their futures
