V. Scott Solberg, PhD.

Dr. V. Scott Solberg is the Associate Dean of Research at Boston University School of Education. He is an active member of the Society for Vocational Psychology of the American Psychological Association and a member of several international psychology associations. Dr. Solberg is currently the chair of the American Psychological Association's Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education. He has published more than 20 empirical and theoretical articles relevant to youth development and academic success and is the author of Success Highways

Ivory A. Toldson, PhD.

Dr. Ivory A. Toldson is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the Howard University School of Education. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Negro Education, a Senior Research Analyst for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and author of Breaking Barriers: Plotting the Path to Academic Success for School-Age, African American Males

Reg Weaver

Mr. Weaver is the past President of the National Education Association and works with front-line educators to increase their comfort, understanding and motivation in academic resiliency skills. Mr. Weaver is a former middle school teacher and a recent recipient of the Augustus "Gus" Hawkins Award for Excellence in Education. Mr. Weaver has been described as "a passionate advocate for quality education and for providing solutions to problems that plague schools that serve the poor and minorities" and has written Outside the Box, Inside the School: Building Academic Resiliency

Dr. Rod Paige

Dr. Rod Paige was the U.S. Secretary of Education from 2001 to 2005. He was Dean of the College of Education at Texas Southern University for ten years. He served as the Superintendent of Houston Schools for eight years, and was named 2001 Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators. He lives in Houston and recently published a book entitled The Black-White Achievement Gap: Why Closing it is the Greatest Civil Rights Issue of Our Time.

Alan Lawrence Sitomer

Alan Lawrence Sitomer is California's 2007 Teacher of the Year. In addition to being an inner-city high school English teacher and former professor, Mr. Sitomer is a nationally renowned speaker specializing in engaging reluctant readers. Mr. Sitomer has authored four young adult novels published by Disney (The Hoopster, Hip-Hop High School, Homeboyz and The Secret Story of Sonia Rodriguez) and a teacher's metholodogy book for Scholastic (Teaching Teens & Reaping Results: In a Wi-Fi, Hip-Hop, Where-Has-All-The-Sanity-Gone World). Alan is also the author of Hip-Hop Poetry & the Classics, a text being used in classrooms to illuminate classic poetry through hip-hop. 

Peggy Thurston, M.S.

As a professional development specialist, Ms. Thurston helps educators implement Success Highways. Ms. Thurston recently retired as the Director of Dropout Prevention for the Broward Public Schools in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She has experience as a teacher, department head, curriculum coordinator, project manager, and assistant principal. Ms. Thurston has developed and managed programs targeting tens of thousands of at-risk youth.
